如何從東門去荔枝窩故事館
How to go to Lai Chi Wo Storyroom from the Eastgate
Lai Chi Wo Village is one of the oldest, largest and best-preserved Hakka walled villages in the northeast New Territories over 300-year-old.
For centuries, the natural environs of Lai Chi Wo have been well looked after. It is a scenic area with a diverse ecological environment and rich biodiversity.
In the past, Lai Chi Wo was the centre of Hing Chun Yeuk, an alliance of seven villages in Sha Tau Kok, as well as an education and economic hub. People could travel from Lai Chi Wo to the other six Hing Chun Yeuk villages:
So Lo Pun, Mui Tsz Lam, Kap Tong, Siu Tan, Ngau Shi Wu and Sam A.
Lai Chi Wo Wai Village faces east from west; the main entrance is called "East Gate", which is the main entrance for villagers and visitors.
The couplet on the door is praising that the sun is rising from the east front door every morning, blessing the villagers a brand new day.

Sponsored by the Chinachem Group and supported by the Lions Nature Education Foundation and the Lai Chi Wo Pui Shing Tong,
the Lai Chi Wo Story Room is the second successful joint effort among the seven Hing Chun Alliance villages of Sha Tau Kok and Hong Kong Geopark,
after the Siu Ying Story Room.
Situated in Lai Chi Wo village, the story room was developed from the oral history narrated by locals of the seven Hing Chun Alliance villages and their donated heritage relics.
The Fengshui forest on the north size of the Lai Chi Wo Vilage stands with a hundred-year-old maple tree, guarding the villagers from the cold winter wind and shading the village cool in summer.
The forest also protects the village from landslides and wildfires, and faciliates groundwater for drinking water and irrigation springs.
Lai Chi Wo Hakka Life Experience Village B&B maintains its traditional style. The facades of the village house are built with the original Chinese bricks with wooden doors.
The antique interior decoration retains the typical Hakka house layout of the left toilet, right kitchen and right stairs.
The Derris trifoliata Lour. forest in Lai Chi Wo is very unquie in Hong Kong. In the old days, farmers used the the Derris trifoliata Lour. as pesticide to repel pests.
Now Lai Chi Wo wooden trail is built for ease of viewing The Derris trifoliata Lour. forest.
